KSSC Throwball Tournament – 2023-24

Spectrum Life School, Namakkal will be the venue for the inter-school throwball tournament scheduled for the year 2023-24. The tournament is set to take place on Friday, 29 September 2023. We extend an invitation to all Kongu Sahodaya members to enroll their respective schools for the event.

Steps in the online registration process

  • 1. Read the rules and regulations given below.
  • 2. Click the online registration link given at the end of this page and fill in the details.
  • 3. Download the “Entry Form” from the registration form. [The filled-in entry form need not be emailed to our office. The original copy must be submitted to our welcome desk on the day of the tournament].

  • 1. Last date of entry : 08.09.2023 [Friday], 05.00 pm
  • 2. Match Date : 29.09.2023 [Friday] – Reporting Time : 6.00 am
  • 3. Venue : Spectrum Life School, 6/ 913, Nethaji Nagar 4th cross, Trichy Road, Namakkal – 637001
  • 4. Match fixtures will be drawn at 04.00 pm on 22.09.2023 [Friday]
  • 5. Spot entry and late entry will not be permitted
  • 6. The tournament will utilize a knockout format for all of its matches

Age Category

  • 1. Under 12 Years (Boys & Girls) Born on or after 01.01.2012
  • 2. Under 14 Years (Boys & Girls) Born on or after 01.01.2010
  • 3. Under 16 Years (Boys & Girls) Born on or after 01.01.2008
  • 4. Under 19 Years (Boys & Girls) Born on or after 01.01.2005

General Instructions

Accommodation will not be provided for the outstation participants. The participating schools should bring the following documents category wise when they come for the tournament.

  • 1. Bonafide certificate duly attested by the principal
  • 2. Birth certificate copy
  • 3. ID card of participant
  • 4. Aadhar Card copy
  • 5. School group photo with principal
  • 6. Entry Form

Disqualification

A player / team may be disqualified for the following reasons.

  • 1. Misbehaviour on the ground
  • 2. Use of abusive language
  • 3. Misbehaviour with officials / opponents
  • 4. Submission of incorrect or false documents
  • 5. Any violation of rules and regulations governing sports and games competitions as laid down by KSSC

General Rules

Team size

  • 1. Each team will consist of 9 active players and 3 substitutes.
  • 2. TO WIN THE MATCH: Matches consist of a best of 3 sets. A team wins a match by winning two sets of 15 points each with a minimum lead of 2 points for all categories. In the case of a 1-1 tie, the deciding set(the 3rd) is played to 15 points with a minimum lead of 2 points for all categories. Rally Point System will be followed for all the matches. Whenever a team fails to serve or return the ball, or commits any other fault, the opposing team wins the rally and point. If the serving team wins a rally, it scores a point and continues to serve. If the receiving team wins rally, it scores a point and it must serve next.
  • 3. The right to choose the initial order of serving and receiving ends shall be decided by lot.
  • 4. Players are expected to be at the court at least 30 minutes prior to the game. If the players fail to show up, the match will be cancelled and the opponent will be declared a winner.
  • 5. Double touch (Juggling the ball in both hands) is not allowed while receiving the service ball.
  • 6. Players cannot catch the ball with the assistance of body or legs.
  • 7. The ball should be served after the whistle and within 5 seconds without crossing the service line with single hand.
  • 8. Any ball after catching should be released within 3 seconds.
  • 9. During the service, the ball cannot touch the net.
  • 10. A player can jump when throwing the ball. A player cannot jump while serving the ball.
  • 11. Players cannot touch the net during the play but the ball can touch the net.
  • 12. A player while releasing the ball cannot rotate 360 degrees or turn around to throw the ball.
  • 13. During catching or releasing, the ball should not touch any part of the body except the palm.
  • 14. Two players cannot catch the ball simultaneously.
  • 15. Any ball falling on the side-line or end-line is a good ball.
  • 16. Shifting the ball from right to left or left to right or deliberately pushing is not permitted.
  • 17. The service ball or the rally ball should not touch the poles. If it touches, then it is considered a foul.
  • 18. The serving player always rotates on position clockwise.
  • 19. During the play or rally, players cannot cross the net or obstruct the opponent team.
  • 20. 1 timeout of 2 minutes is permitted for each set per team.
  • 21. Teams can substitute only when it is their turn to serve; only exception is  if a player gets injured. Only 1 person can be substituted at a time up to a maximum of 3 substitutions per set.
  • 22. Umpire decision is final. Even if it was wrong call from the Umpire, the decision stays.
  • 23. Only the coach or the captain can talk to the Umpire before or after the service, not during the play.
  • 24. It will be a standing match for Under 12 and 14 categories for Boys & Girls.
  • 25. Rotation rules will be followed for Under 16 and Under 19 matches for Boys and Girls.
  • 26. Players must be in proper dress code.
  • 27. A player can participate only in one category.
